The City Red Cross Society of Zagreb is a humanitarian organization dedicated to promoting health, social care, and humanitarian education. It operates as an independent, non-governmental, and non-profit association supported by volunteers and professional staff. The Society provides various forms of assistance to citizens in the spirit of humanity and solidarity, guided by the seven fundamental principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement: humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity, and universality. Through humanitarian education for children, youth, and the wider community, it fosters solidarity, mutual support, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence. The work of the City Red Cross Society of Zagreb is based on the Geneva Conventions of 12 August 1949, as well as Additional Protocols I and II of 1977 and Protocol III of 2005.
