Institute of Music and Creative Industries hosted an engaging workshop on music therapy, led by certified music therapist Mirta Romštajn. The workshop offered participants a unique opportunity to explore how music can be used as a powerful tool for non-musical therapeutic goals.

Through both theory and practice, attendees were introduced to the foundational concepts of music therapy, including its definitions, professional standards, and key therapeutic models. Special focus was given to techniques such as improvisation, guided listening, songwriting, and re-performance of known songs — all within a structured and supportive therapeutic framework.
Real-life case examples illustrated how music therapy supports emotional expression, enhances communication, fosters self-awareness, and promotes healing across all age groups. From playful children’s exercises to emotionally resonant songwriting with young adults, the workshop highlighted music’s transformative capacity to connect, uplift, and empower.

The session was not only informative but also deeply inspiring, inviting all participants to experience music not just as an art form, but as a pathway to well-being and self-discovery.
