🔥 Building Resilience: Second Training Session in Alto Palancia 🔥

On February 12, 2025, we successfully conducted the second session of our fire recovery and resilience training program at IES Alto Palancia. This hands-on session focused on fire behavior analysis, tactical response, and emergency coordination, equipping participants with essential skills to tackle real wildfire scenarios.

🌍 Key Activities:
✅ Understanding Fire Behavior & Decision-Making
🔹 Analyzing how wildfires spread, key risk factors, and emergency response strategies.
🔹Learning from real cases to improve decision-making during critical situations.

✅ Serious Games & Field Simulations
Participants were divided into four teams (Alpha, Beta, Charlie, Delta) to engage in a wildfire simulation, applying real-life emergency tactics.
Key tasks included:
🔹 Mapping high-risk areas around the IES Alto Palance.
🔹 Using fire forecasting tools to predict fire spread.
🔹 Identifying hotspots & vulnerabilities (sucha s dry vegetation, industrial zones, evacuation constraints) to develop effective response plans.
🔹 Rapid communication: Teams had just 5 minutes to assign a group leader, coordinate via WhatsApp and devise a response strategy.
✅ Expert Insights on Sustainable Land Management
🔹 Exploring the role of biomass energy in wildfire prevention and promoting a circular economy.
🔹 Discussing the impact of traditional agriculture in reducing fire risk.
🔹 Highlighting the importance of reforestation and community involvement in post-fire recovery.

🔥 Why This Matters
Wildfires are increasingly intense and unpredictable. Building resilience means preparing communities, training responders, and investing in sustainable land management. This session reinforced that fire prevention is a shared responsibility, requiring collaboration between firefighters, policymakers, local communities, landowners, and local youth.

Let’s keep working together for a safer, more resilient Alto Palancia!
